About Bank House, Gardens, and Surrounding Area

Dean, Sarah and family run Bank House as a small but exclusive B and B.

We have really enjoyed setting up and running the business. We have restored the house and indeed each room has been converted trying to keep the original victorian features as best we can and used furniture and furnishings to compliment each room.

The garden (see garden page) was originally laid out as an arts and crafts garden, with different areas of interest. Much of the original layout and Old shrubs remain but we are working hard to get it back to its orgianl glory.

Bank House is in the Eden Valley but well placed to visit the surrounding sites such as the Lakedistrict, Hadrians Wall and the Pennines. We have lots of laminated maps wich we encourage people to take out on their excursions.

Ullswater is our nearest lake and the most stunning. Within 20 minutes you can be walking through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe. Ullswater Steamers give you a lovely option - take a trip along the this lake and get 10% off your trip with a voucher from us.

Wherever you wish to explore we will do our best to help you with maps, timetables, leaflets or ideas.

A Warm Welcome Coffee, Tea and Cake in the Guest Sitting Room.

On your arrival after being shown to your room there will be fresh filter coffee (tea on request) and some home made cake or biscuits to enjoy in our sitting room, while you can look at local books, magazines, maps etc.
